State Representatives Smith and Morgan schedule debate

The League of Women Voters of Lackawanna County and the Political Science Department of The University of Scranton will host debates for state representative races. All events will be held in the University’s Pearn Auditorium of Brennan Hall on Madison Avenue beginning at 7 p.m.

Ken Smith (Dem), incumbent representative in the 112th legislative district will debate challenger Lee Morgan (Rep) on Monday, Oct. 25. The boundaries of this district cover part of Scranton and all of Dunmore, Moscow, Clifton, Covington, Elmhurst, Madison, Roaring Brook and Thornhurst.

The debate for incumbent representative Kevin Murphy (Dem) and opponent Mike LaPolla (Rep) in the 113th legislative district will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27. The 113th district serves residents in parts of Scranton, Moosic and Taylor and all of South Abington Township, Clarks Green and Throop.

All debates will be taped for broadcast on ECTV. The videos will also be available on the League’s website at www.lwvlackawanna.org.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
