Following the resignation of former Spring Brook Supervisor Ken Genovese, longtime township resident Charlie Schank assumed the position on Jan. 1. Schank has lived in Spring Brook for approximately 47 years.

After being in business for 20 years, Schank retired and, in 1986, took a part-time job in sales where he presently works today. He specializes in real estate and industrial equipment.

Prior to being named supervisor, Schank was working as the township’s auditor for the last 10 years. During that time, he developed a good working relationship with the supervisors which he feels will only help him as he assumes responsibility of his new position.

“He’s a very community-minded person,” said Spring Brook Supervisor Jack Flyte.

“I’m not hear to reinvent the wheel; it’s been going good,” commented Schank. “I am hear to continue to support the existing supervisors and all of their programs while trying to help maintain our goals.”

One area Schank would like to further investigate is police protection for the township.

“It’s something that we want to look into and see if it’s even feasible,” he said.

Like former and present supervisors, Schank will maintain an open door policy.

“We’re hear to service the public and township and that’s our ultimate goal; to keep everybody happy, so to speak,” he explained.

“We have probably one of the best nucleus’ of supervisors here in Spring Brook,” he added. “The township has come a long way because of the dedication displayed by the people on this board.”
