Honesdale native Crystal Satriano has recently opened a new photography studio on the corner of Church and Main streets in Moscow. Located at 101 Church St., Crystal Satriano Photography would like to become the studio best known for its uncanny ability to capture all of life’s most precious moments.

Satriano, who is married and now lives in Thornhurst with her husband and three children, is a self taught photographer. While she did not attend school for photography, she has taken several paid courses and has read various books to further enhance her knowledge in the field.

Her studio provides clients with a comfortable setting that is both inviting and relaxing. It is also equipped with a changing room as well as a nursing/feeding area for sessions involving young children.

Crystal Satriano Photography provides the following services: maternity, newborn, children, teens, seniors, families, couples, boudoir and weddings. Appointments are required for all sessions and digital and print packages are available.

Satriano says her children inspired her to become involved in photography.

“When my kids were little, I found myself wishing I could beautifully capture their everyday expressions, playfulness and growth,” she explained.

“Once I started learning more about photography and practicing, I realized that it was a powerful creative outlet for me and it quickly developed into a passion that I wanted to share with other people.”

Now that she owns and operates her own studio, Satriano hopes to be able to share her creativity with others and “help them capture the same moments in their lives that I was trying to capture in my own.”

“I see motion and beauty all around me,” she said. “I think that’s one of the biggest gifts photography has given me - to hone in on that and constantly appreciate and value beautiful things around you.”

The ultimate compliment Satriano ever received was when a woman told her  she made her husband cry after he looked at pictures she took of him. If photographs are like stories and the photographer is the storyteller, then this is clearly one instance in which Satriano made that connection and told a very believable story.

On Sunday, Feb. 19, an Open House will be held at the studio from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be refreshments, cakes, and raffles to enter.
