On Wednesday, June 27th, the Greater Carbondale YMCA will hold its Pioneer Heroes Awards program at the Hotel Anthracite, located at 25 South Main St. in Carbondale. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and cocktail hour. The awards program will take place promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Guests are invited to gather to honor four super supporters of the organization. These individuals have given their time, talent, and treasure to build up the YMCA. Coming together weekly from for four years, from 2005 through 2009, this group spearheaded the 21st Century Capital Campaign. The campaign raised over $10 million and helped to create the beautiful, spacious, and modern facility that now serves as the Greater Carbondale YMCA.
Those being honored at this year’s event are John Cosgrove and Msg. Joseph Quinn, who are both receiving the Volunteer Award, as well as Dan Totsky and Susan Mancuso, who are both receiving the Lifetime Award. The efforts of these four dedicated people were critical to the success of the campaign that ultimately allowed the YMCA to take its place as a hub of community activities, informative programs, physical wellness, and social activities serving people in Carbondale and the surrounding communities.
Event registrations are $50 per person or $500 per table of 10. In order to reserve an individual place or a table, RSVP by Friday, June 22 to Heather Murphy by calling (570) 282-2210 ext. 104, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Those wishing to express their congratulations in the keepsake program may do so by placing an ad. The deadline for ads has been extended to Monday, June 11th. Please contact Heather Murphy for details about ad sizes and prices.
Proceeds from this event will support the Greater Carbondale YMCA Endowment Fund, thus allowing the Y to continue their work in perpetuity. In the 130 years since the YMCA was founded in the Carbondale community, thousands have personally benefitted from the Y’s commitment to strengthening its neighbors.
The YMCA Board of Directors has created an Endowment Fund and Heritage Club honoring those who have made a commitment to provide for the future of the YMCA. Heritage Club members, by their current or planned gift, ensure that the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility endure and that YMCA programs will positively impact the community for generations to come. Please contact the YMCA if you have already made a provision for the Y in your estate plans and would like to be recognized in the Heritage Club.
For more information about reservations, keepsake program ads, the Endowment Fund, or the Heritage Club, contact Heather Murphy, financial development director, at (570) 282-2210 ext. 104 or by email as mentioned above.
