Coffee Breaks: Motorists traveling through Northeastern Pennsylvania are encouraged to take a safety break at interstate rest areas over the Memorial Day Weekend. Community groups will serve free coffee at rest areas through a program coordinated with PennDOT that’s designed to encourage drivers to “Take a Break for Safety’s Sake” during the busy holiday travel period from Friday, May 25 through May 28, 2018. Breaks will be held at rest areas on Interstates 80, 81, and 84 as well as the Matamoras Welcome Center and the Great Bend Welcome Center. Interstate 81 South.
SR 0084, Manual Patching Operation will occur on between Exit 1 ,Tigue Street, and towards the Wayne County Line. Patching is expected to occur on Wednesday, May 30 and Thursday, May 31. Patching will start at 7:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m
SR 0084, Bridge deck and joint repairs will occur on the Roaring Brook Bridge. Repairs will be expected to occur on May 30 to May 31. At 7:30 a.m to 2:00 p.m.
SR 171: Ramp Work for SR 171 in Carbondale is complete. Work is scheduled to begin work on SR 171 on Wednesday, May 30,2018. The work will include milling 2
inches of pave, ½ Inch scratch course, manhole adjustments and 1 ½ inch wearing course on SR 171 from SR 6006 in Carbondale to SR 1011in Simpson. There will be short term lane closures with flaggers to maintain traffic flow on a daily basis during this work. The time frame for this work is expected to be 3 to 4 weeks.
There will be traffic issues on Monday, May 28 on South Main St, Taylor from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade begins at the Taylor Hose Company on Union St.
SR 1025, Pipe Trench Patching starting May 29 to May 31 in Wemberly St, in Scott twp. Patching will start at 7:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m.
SR 1012, Archbald Borough- At the intersection of Kennedy Drive and County Road, work is taking place to form a four-way intersection with the opposite Borough street. A new traffic signal will be installed at this intersection as well, and Kennedy Drive will be widened to accommodate a center turn lane from Main Street to Monica Drive. An additional left turn lane may be added on Main for left turns on to Kennedy Drive. The project should be completed by the summer of 2018.
Bridge Now Open to traffic . SR 6011(Harrison Avenue), Scranton - As part of the ongoing project to replace the Harrison Avenue Bridge, the Central Scranton Expressway is a single lane pattern in each direction. The project completion is 2018.
