The Elmhurst Township Sewer Authority recently purchased specialty Confined Space Rescue equipment and presented it to the Elmhurst-Roaring Brook Volunteer Fire Company.
The department is the primary provider of rescue services to the Sewer Authority.
Sewer Authority employees must sometimes service pumps and other equipment located underground in sewer catch basins and vaults; potentially dangerous environments with limited access.
Members of the fire department have Confined Space training and equipment which prepares them for emergencies of this type.
Sewer Authority board members who made the presentation at Station 15 are Phil Madison, Anthony Acquaviva, and Loren Caparo.
They presented two Yates full body rescue harnesses and four PMI rescue helmets to the Fire Company.
