Cast member guest appearances at the November 18 Santa Parade in Scranton, and at a December 2 Brunch with Santa at Glenmaura National Country Club will build excitement for the Scranton Civic Ballet Company performances of “The Nutcracker.”

Under the artistic direction of Miss Helen Gaus, 80 students and adults, ranging in age from 8 to 75, will share the timeless story of Clara, Drosselmeyer and the Nutcracker that unfolds as the delicate Sugar Plum Fairy and all of Tchaikovsky’s musical sprites weave their enchanting spell.

Sponsored by Toyota of Scranton and FOX56, the production will feature professional dancer Edward Spots in the role of Cavalier.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Spots graduated from the No. 1 boarding school for ballet and academics, Walnut Hill School for the Fine Arts.

He then toured the world with the well-known dance company, Alvin Ailey II.

He became a principal dancer with Urban Ballet Theatre in NYC, Delaware Dance Company, and NYC's new premiere ballet company, The Claudia Schreier Project. Spots has been featured in Dance Magazine, Essence Magazine, The New York Times, television’s So You Think You Can Dance, Bulgarian Dancing with The Stars, and National Geographic Travelers Edition.
