Emma Nemitz is a current senior and captain on the North Pocono Girls Golf Team. She is a four year member of the Varsity golf team and has garnered many victories this season for the team.

With her 6 years of golf experience, Emma has excelled in pre-districts and team districts with first place trophies for both competitions (setting a personal record with a low score of 83!).

Earlier in the season, Emma was the lowest scoring senior in the Jackman Tournament out of seniors from over ten participating schools.

Because of these accomplishments, Emma qualified for the selective individual district competition and placed in the top five!

These victories are only a continuation of last year’s stellar performance and hard work over the summer.

Last season, Emma was voted team MVP and was an All Region pick for her sport. Emma was selected for and placed 3rd in the AGA Tournament of Champions through winning many events last year.

Over the summer, in between weekly lessons with a swing coach, she also participated in the Philly Junior Tour where she traveled throughout Pennsylvania to compete with talented girls around the state.

After spending so much of her time on the course, Emma has learned a lot from the sport.

“Golf has taught me patience, hard work, and dedication,” says Emma. She praised her coaches, Tom Cesarini (school coach) and Scotty McAlarney (swing coach), for working with her to improve all aspects of her game.

Emma also thanked her teammates for their support. She says, “It’s a great feeling to have the underclassmen looking up to me as a role model. It makes me want to do better to help them improve their game.”

Golf taught Emma that “when you're part of a team, the team comes first”. This mentality has earned her some of her closest friends.

Along with this huge time commitment, Emma finds a way to serve as the Vice President of the Senior Class and participate in activities such as Science Olympiad, Reading Celebrations, FBLA, Red Cross Club, and PTSA. Emma also is a member of the National Honor Society and works at the Caboose.

She is hoping to pursue golf at a four year university while studying Biochemistry.

Good Luck to Emma in all of her future competitions!

Until next time!
