Before discarding or mulching native plants when sprucing up the yard this spring, consider donating them to Lackawanna Heritage Valley’s Earth Week Plant Drive.
To help beautify the Nay Aug Avenue Natural Play Area in Scranton, Lackawanna Heritage Valley will collect native plant donations on Thursday, April 20, and Friday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the play area. The park is located at 1731 Nay Aug Avenue in the Green Ridge section of Scranton (near the Green Ridge Shopping Center).
Desired varieties include: Black-eyed Susans, Daylilies, Sedum (commonly known as stonecrop), Tiger Lilies, Daisies, Hostas and Ferns. An Earth Day planting will be held at the play area on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon.
All donations are greatly appreciated as the project will create opportunities for educational science and nature programming for children and enhance the beauty of the play area.
