The North Pocono High School Science Olympiad team is heading to States for the sixth straight year. On Wednesday, March 8, 2016, the team competed in the Regional Science Olympiad Competition at Penn State in Wilkes-Barre and placed 3rd in the region.

The Northeast region covers Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, Luzerne, Lycoming, Lackawanna, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

The team medaled in 13 of the 23 events and finished in the top 10 in 21 of the 23 competitive events.

Based on the team’s success, the team earned a bid to the State competition at Juniata College in April to compete against 36 other schools from across the state for the State championship.

North Pocono is currently ranked 10th in the State, and the team hopes to improve their ranking at this year’s State tournament.
