Come and join us for the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the performance of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, presented under the artistic direction of Helen Gaus of the Scranton Civic Ballet Company.
This year’s gala presentation will take place on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. All performances will take place at the beautiful Scranton Cultural Center. Several North Pocono residents will grace the stage and entertain you with their superb performances.
Keelin Evans of Roaring Brook Twp. dances a key role as the Angel on High and gives a dazzling performance as one of the snow attendants in the Land of Snow scene.
Alicia Kulik from Spring Brook Twp. has four dance roles as Kissing Doll, a snowflake in the Land of Snow scene, a dancer in the Spanish scene, and a flower in the spectacular Waltz of the Flowers scene.
There are four adult performers with a total of 70 + years of acting and dancing experience with the Scranton Civic Ballet Company.
Karl Barbee from Spring Brook Twp. performs as the witty grandfather in the opening party scene. He also performs as a giant mouse in Clara’s nightmare scene, he dances in the Chinese scene and he will dazzle you with his performance as Mother Ginger with her Polichinelles.
Jim Patterson of Roaring Brook Twp. dances as one of the parents in the opening party scene and then morphs into the wicked and evil Mouse King who haunts Clara in her nightmare.
Debby Porter of Madison Twp. keeps her stage husband, Jim Patterson on the straight and narrow in the party scene. Porter also gives a great performance as the Mouse Queen poking fun at her pompous husband, the Mouse King.
Bob Quinlan of Jefferson Twp. rounds out the adult quartet in his mysterious and magical performance as Clara’s uncle, Herr Drosselmeyer. He magically makes dolls dance and, under his spell, the Christmas tree grows to gigantic proportions.
